PHILIPSBURG, St. Maarten – The St. Maarten Fire Department was called out on Friday night into Saturday morning to carry out a number of weather related rescues.
A senior member of the department told our news room that all of the islands low lying areas are flooded.
They conducted a house rescue of a man and his grandson in Cole Bay. A pregnant woman and her children was also rescued from three to four feet of water in her home also in the district of Cole Bay.
The rescued lady was turned over to the Ambulance Department.
The fire officer also told us that in the vicinity of the cargo building on the airport road it is almost impossible for vehicles to pass to the flooding in the area.
